Hate Speech Essay

In our society today there are many cases of hate speech which is evident in politics, music, and movies. This paper will discuss the role of education and society on hate speech and the use of language in American politics, Supreme Court decisions, movies, music, and print. THE ROLE OF EDUCATION AND SOCIETY ON HATE SPEECH Education and society have a great role in hate speech. Hate speech is a problem that the educationalist and educational institutions have to tackle with a lot of care as when not tackled well due to lack of action on the hate speech can lead to the student to think that the behavior is acceptable. Despite how a student has wronged the other student or made a mistake that annoyed the educator, the educator must resist the urge to condemn the student instead the educator should ask politely what was behind the action.

The press should be careful about the information they release so as not to offend anyone. THE USE OF LANGUAGE IN MUSIC, MOVIE AND PRINT AND MEDIA IN THE PAST AND PRESENT Music is one way of using language and the words in the music should be chosen carefully so that the music cannot turn to be hateful music. In the past music was appropriately chosen and was used to convey a reasonable message but today hateful music is used and no actions are taken. This includes the use of hateful music in the political rally and the homophobic music that uses hate speech. This music should be condemned and discouraged and should be treated not less than the threats, harassment, and violence since they are qualitatively worse.
