Name: Name of Professor: Course: Date: Pros and Cons of minimum wage bill Minimum wage is the lowest possible amount that an employer can pay his or her employees. The minimum wage issue has been in existence since the year 1938. During this year the minimum wage was set to be $0.25 an hour (Flinn 18). Ever since then the revision of the amount now stands at 22 times. The latest update to salaries was in 2009 which raised the amount to $7.25 an hour (Flinn 18). Majority of the states in Columbia have already a higher minimum wage than the federal government. There is the need for uniformity across the whole government institutions and private companies. Once this law gets passed as suggested by Governor Cuomo there will be a need for all cities to adhere to this minimum. In the bill Governor Cuomo is proposing he wants very people who are supposed to benefit from the policies. The minimum wage debate is not yet over even if Governor Cuomo's proposal gets implemented. With the rising cost of living inflation increase in population are some of the recurring factors that do not seem to stop happening soon. At the same time the federal state government of New York and other states in the United States need to come up with a better solution that will favor both the employee and employers. That way no one is going to feel like is being exploited unfairly in this matter.
