These characteristics are majorly based on the solutions required for solving the challenges encountered to ensure a strong foundation. The fact that these organizations need to be accountable to citizens and offer services of the highest level possible also contribute to the organizational characteristics. The characteristics are as follows; Division of labor The organizations are popularly divided into departments which are assigned specific duties. Different groups specialize on matters which they can competently solve perfectly (Stroshine &Meghan, 43). The divisions or units may include criminal investigation, patrol, administration, navy and other bodies which are aimed to ensure that each person is dedicated to the realization of the best performance in their sector. Hierarchy of the Authority Police organizations have different levels of power assumed by individuals in a hierarchical manner.

The lowest level police officers are controlled by supervisors who also under some higher authorities (Stroshine &Meghan, 43). Through such a pattern, there is control of each officer by another with higher authority until the highest authority therefore ensuring convenience in services. How did the police car, two-way radio, and the telephone change policing? Policing processes have changed to the better and more efficient over a period of time. This has been realized due to the introduction of different working technologies such as the police cars which are meant for patrolling within different locations.
