Effects of violent video games on the behavior of children ages 4-8

One of the main changes is the aggression in child behavior which develops with time. Some of the sources for changes in aggressive behavior among children at such a tender age include exposure to violent virtual world media and games, when they are at home and also at school (Hollingdale & Greitemeyer, 2014). Children tend to develop their behavior based on what they see around them. It is one of the ways that greatly contribute to the level of aggression developed by a child as he or she grows up. Therefore regulating the level of games and media which our children are exposed to plays a great role in ensuring their aggressive behavior is not exaggerated because of what they see around them whenever playing the video games.

The effect of object-based aggressiveness occurs to the child whenever he or she gets accesses in real life to some of the object used in playing of the game. It may first come in the form of fun; however, with time, this can be a form of risk to the people around such a child. It is attributed to the fact that with different aggressive levels amongst children one cannot easily tell whether it has reached a point at which you can be hurt using the same object. Selection of the objects by children is based on what they found to be effective whenever playing their video games. This type of aggressiveness is a reminder that before allowing our children to be exposed to video games it is important to ensure the games have no objects which can be easily reached in real life and cause harm in case of adoption of aggressive behaviors amongst children (Başol & Kaya 2018).

Physical aggression Violent games have negative psychological and emotional effects, which in turn influence the physical aggression levels amongst children as they grow. This is due to their tendency to be interested in specific characters in the games which are violent when it comes to handling people around them physically (Dirandeh et al. Unfortunately, the physical aggression bit of video games is what excites most children. As the children are exposed to these type of games, there is a tendency of them adopting the aggressiveness and transforming it to other people around them. This even becomes worse when children who are both physical, aggressive clash as everyone wants to prove he or she is the better when it comes to physicality (Liu, 2014).

They include; the level of family income; children from low family income have a higher response to aggression whenever they are exposed to violent video games. This is due to the severe conditions with which they are brought up. Such a child develops with a mentality of survival for the fittest as far as the application of aggressive behavior in the society is concerned (Arunrangsiwed, 2014). The comfy life of children from wealthy families helps in cushioning the level of aggressiveness adopted from watching violent video games. One of the factors that lead to the development of aggressiveness to different levels amongst the children is emotional growth. Başol, G. , & Kaya, A. B.
