Comparison between smooth skeletal and cardiac muscle cells
Document Type:Coursework
Subject Area:Biology
Lastly, the structure of the skeletal muscle cell is very unique, it is not branched. The cells are fused together to form long and straight muscle fibers. Cardiac Muscle These cells are located in the heart and are specialized in pumping blood throughout the body for an entire lifetime. Cardiac muscles are involuntary and intrinsically controlled. Second, the muscles are short and form many branched networks in between the cells. In addition, they all have extensibility as they can stretch and contract and lastly, they are all elastic as they can return back to their original length after the muscles have been stretched. Question 2: Functioning Of the Nervous System The nervous system (NS) has billions of neurons. Each of these has a cell body and extensions, either long (axon) or short (dendrites).
