S Constitution, criminal laws at these levels vary from one another. Federal criminal justice normally deals with cases that are nationality in their scope (Burnham, 2016). These cases include treason, the assassination of the government top-level officials as well as espionage among other such cases. On the other hand, state criminal justice system deal with crimes that are in a certain situation or which have taken place and have evidence that involves the state (Burnham, 2016). This is also the same case with the criminal justice system within special jurisdictions. Their responsibilities also include carrying out police procedures within the rules that are prescribed by the law together with upholding the rights of both offenders, witnesses as well as victims. There is a certain law enforcement body that is put in place mainly to cover certain areas of criminal at the federal level.

This body deal with crimes such as human trafficking among many others. One of the most important such bodies is the FBI which is given police powers over any crime which has a significant national wide impact to the nation with a good example of such a crime being terrorist acts. There are many differences between state and other local government police organizations with these differences being seen in structure and also in their activities that they usually carry out in the society. Some of these reasons that may lead to the dismissal of a case in the prosecution stage include a scenario where there is no adequate evidence of the crimes that one is being charged with or in the case where a weak police investigation has been conducted (Cole et al.

The prosecutor takes the position of the victim together with the society or community from which the crime has been committed. The prosecutor also conducts arraignment. This stage is advanced after the prosecutor decides to press charges against the suspected offender. In the case where the case is dismissed, the arraignment stage is not reached. The next stage of adjudication is sentencing. A sentence is corresponded by a court conviction which is used as a penalty to an offender who has been found guilty as an outcome of the preceding trial. The judgment is usually given by the judge through the following of certain prescribed guidelines, limitations, and standards in the process of punishing convicts. Death penalties are permitted in the United States to those convictions which have committed heinous crimes although capital punishment has been an issue of discussion over the last few years.
