Article Critique Name Institution Higher education has expanded to accommodate the rapidly changing socioeconomic environment. The restructuring of the public sector and the combined impact of culture and economics has resulted in a more diverse and competitive social environment. Such changes have promoted various shifts in higher education as it seeks to accommodate the dynamics of the current education environment. The purpose of this study was to characterize mature students over 23 years old (MS23) of two Portuguese higher education institutions and understand their academic success (Santos Bago Baptista Ambrosio Fonseca and Quintas 2016). This is in response to the Bologna process. The Bologna process was recently implemented in Portugal giving MS23 gain special access to higher education while taking into account their professional experiences and other biographical elements (Fragoso Goncalves Ribeiro Monteiro Quintas Bago Fonseca and Santos 2016). As expected the implementation would lead to an increase in schedules for better student access and fostering research towards the betterment of academic success for mature students. Ultimately the study provided an insightful informative and extensive analysis of the contemporary situation of higher education for mature students. References Fragoso A. GonCalves T. Ribeiro C.M.
