A firewall is software that filters traffic between the outside which is less trustworthy and the inside or protected information. it either allow certain necessary packets or disallows all packets. An antivirus, on the other hand, is software that screens for malicious code and asses and deletes or quarantines them before they apply damage to information systems. It detects if file have some malicious behaviors and disallow execution thus implementing security. They are classified into host-based intrusion detection system and network-based detection software. HIDS has the ability to detect any attempts or changes to manipulate system files or any other suspicious activities originating from within the organization domain. Intrusion prevention systems also have the abilities to configure rules, security policies are requires actions upon detecting malicious activities in a network or to a host.
