Name: Course: Professor: Date: Surface Metabolism Model Question One The surface metabolism model stipulates that there are many sources that can be found on the surface of the earth. This energy sources have always been available from the time in which the earth came to be. The different sources of energy provide sufficient energy that is required to support chemical reactions. For example heat energy is known to be a standard energy that is ideal to support chemical reactions. This heat is mainly from geothermal processes. This is referred to as the movement of ions across a membrane that is semipermeable down their electrochemical gradient. Serpentinization- This is the process in which rock is changed by the addition of water into the crystal structure of the various minerals that are found within the rock. Glycosis- This is the process of breaking down of glucose by the enzymes while releasing energy and acid. Works Cited Ehnholm Christian. Cellular Lipid Metabolism. Springer 2009. Kolb V.
