The head of your organization at International Building Materials pulls you aside and asks you to review a workplace dispute in the truss construction department. The legal department is involved but your boss wants you to analyze the facts of the situation and report back to her so that she is informed as she develops subsequent market strategies. At the end of your meeting, she says, “Apply your critical thinking and analytical skills to figure out what happened, what we know and don’t know, and how the company might remedy this situation.” She wants your analysis at the end of the week.
This week – and next – we’ll focus on Module 5: Critical Thinking in Action. (If you haven’t submitted your Workforce Analysis project, please get that in first. Don't forget to send me an e-mail when you submit late work so I will know to look for it.
Here is our Module 5 checklist:
1.. Review the expanded Critical Thinking Rubric which will explain the criteria in the rubric. This rubric is intended to serve as a framework for critical thinking and you will use it to structure your thinking for this assignment and others in your next classes. .
2.Read the various materials included in the content area of class. (Click on the hyperlinks in the Module 5 “Content” area to locate the various articles.) Pay particular attention to the revised sample paper and the critical thinking rubric (mentioned above) -- both of which are attached in the "Content" area for Module 5.
3.Read the case(“Trouble in the Truss Construction Shop”) which is just one page.Employ the critical thinking rubric as a framework for analyzing the case.
4.Complete the “Critical Thinking in Action” assignment.
Note: This is an assignment where you can seek feedback on your writing in advance from the course writing tutor. If you do, try to submit it to the tutor by around Aug. 19th or 20th for time to incorporate changes. There is a place in the assignment for the submission. to the tutor.
5.Submit your “Critical Thinking in Action” paper by Tues., Aug. 23rd at 11:59 p.m. EST. It should be no more than 5 pages in length (approximately 1,250 words) plus your appropriately formatted title page and reference list. Everything should be done in accordance with APA style.
