Social Change in Mental Health
Many individuals are limited from seeking quality management and care due to self-stigma and feel shy to share their experiences with others. Overcoming social stigma requires the patient to understand their condition and the management plans that are tied to the condition. Through such understanding, the patient is free to make decisions on their management and can easily be incorporated in care. Patient education is also essential in ensuring that patients adhere to their medication and care plans hence reducing the risk of relapse that hampers the management of mental illnesses. Community support for the mentally ill is another aspect that plays a critical role in ensuring effective care delivery for the mentally ill (Rickwood, Mazzer & Telford, 2015).
