Excellent communication skills set is a must I this field, since it is expected of the assistants to interact both with the clients and their fellow staff members. Whether it is answering emails, receiving incoming phone calls or greeting clients medical support staff are expected to act be both professionally and approachable, not to mention their important role in upholding clients’ information with confidentiality and discretion during their day to day duties. The main aim of this paper is to review a case where a medical support staff may have unintentionally comprised the sets ethics regarding client’s information confidentiality, in the pursuit of career advancements. While providing an alternative to counter and correct this type of ethical miscarriage. Also discussed in this paper is which correct path medical assistants should take to further their careers and limitations of practices they can undertake out of their scope of training.
