A Systems Design for Change Due (30 points) In the final 3-4 page course paper (not including cover, table of contents, appendices, resources), students will design a systemic plan of action (solutions/strategies) to address every issue identified and explored through conflict analysis discussion posts. The systemic plan of action will emphasize the interventions and solutions that should be implemented to resolve the identified issues. The action plan will be presented in the table format below as a way to visually present your interventions and solutions in a clear and coherent manner. The table will describe each identified issue and align the following components with each issue: the specific and relevant strategies/actions (negotiation, facilitation problem solving groups, training, mediation, or other interventions), a realistic and doable timetable, the responsible party or parties who will carry out the interventions and solutions, and measurable outcome (financial, patient care and/or satisfaction). The outcome needs to be specific regarding the expected progress expected, for example, % achievement to be gained by the intervention. Remember, outcomes MUST be relevant, measurable, and doable. Measurability requires change defined (from what measure to what measure), timeframe for achievement eg Productivity will increase from 85% to 95% by June, 2016. The action plan should reflect integration of material covered throughout the SI and the course in presenting in-depth exploration and plan to address the issues facing the organization. The purpose of the action plan is to bring together what you have learned in class, your health care expertise, and issues identified that are amenable to change. The expectation of the action plan is the incorporation of concepts presented throughout the semester, including the models for conflict assessment, e.g. Social Cubism, TRIP, SOAR, fishbone, etc. Visual presentation of material through charts and diagrams should be used to simplify and enhance the presentation of conflict assessment and intervention information in an efficient manner. The action plan must demonstrate critical thinking and examination that consider process implications and applications. Students will employ supplemental resources such as accessing the Internet and/or library search strategies to uncover additional material for the actions recommended, integrate course concepts appropriately, and cite resources in a relevant and accurate manner. The paper should be of scholarly quality and display adequate depth and breadth to clearly and thoroughly define and identify issues and relevant interventions from a systemic perspective.
