The three stories were collected and assemble by the Aarne-Thompson grouping in Germany. The author of the story "The Story of a Youth Who Went Forth to Learn What Fear Was" narrates the journey of a boy who wants to be like his siblings through learning the meaning of fear. The author of the story (Fearless Jean (1887)) narrates about a man who proclaim himself to be brave, whom he was nicknamed fearless jean. The third story (Fearless Hans (1851)) narrates about a boy who courageously beats an old man. The three boys similarly begin to prove their bravery nature through personal facts at the beginning of each of the stories above. The priest in this tackle has an authority to direct the man who claims to be fearless.

The story about (A Tale about the Boy Who Went Forth to Learn What Fear Was) spans around the life of a boy who was not able to be freaked out with any form of scaring activity. Even though a lot of proponents took place in the course of his life, the boy was able to walk through them without any form of fear. In comparison to this story was the tale of (Fearless Jean (1887)) where there was a man who considered himself having never feared anything in his entire life. Both of the tales brings out significant proponents about the two individuals who had different perspectives about fear. This was a great tool that he applied in effectively achieving what he wanted to.
