Name Professor Course Date The Artistic Work: Evaluation and its Importance. Part 1 Evaluating the works of art Discerning the quality of the work of art is often complex. To some extent one may argue that the evaluation of the works of art is usually dependent on the level of entry regulations and individual’s preference. However notwithstanding the personal inclinations there are various qualities sought in evaluating the works of art. Checking the integrity of the art is of paramount importance. It must have a sense that the works comes from within and are the genuine expression of the artist’s spirit. Further in the evaluation the completeness of the work must be explicit. These means that works of art should be coherent and have integrated functionality with several aspects closely worked into it. The depth of work is epitomized by its ability to present a subtlety that can survive repeated world. The importance of arts and especially music is rooted on how it is expressed and how it enthralls an individual on the most basic and borderline unexplainable of degrees. Whether music inflames curiosity or not I am convinced that it evokes some strong sense of emotion. I consider music as the most fantastic form that is deeply embedded in an individual’s feelings and that which can stimulate a personal view of the quality of life. How can Art possibly have any importance in a world dominated by news of stock markets, economic failure, corruption in business, political controversy, elections, "fake news", issues of medical ethics, life, death, wards, "political correctness", the "post-Weinstein" morass of moral confusions and controversies, and the materialism upon which the everyday seems to focus? What is the role of Art in your life/in human existence? Part 2: after reading the extracts from HANSLICK Vom musikalisch Schonen, comment upon the INTERNAL values of this, one among many art forms, self-sufficient in its values and relevant to broader life experience. Please read the text before writing the paper. Refer - with citations - to actual current or historical events, situations, people, and (where appropriate art responses to these.
