An opinion on the post-Watergate era will be enumerated in the analysis to look at how the situation would be if the crisis were to happen today. Introduction The Watergate scandal is a historical occurrence of a principal political scandal in the early 1970s. Five men broke into the Watergate Complex that housed the Democratic National Convention on June 17, 1972, in pursuit of the party's confidential information. The involvement of President Richard Nixon's administration in the ordeal was clear from their effort applied to interfere with the investigations. Investigations yielded substantive links on how the tapes recorded by President Nixon reveal how he tried to protect members of his administration from the probe on the case. People look at public officials are individuals charged with a broader responsibility of maintaining the rule of law and serving the public interest.

The authors’ views would make the reader understand the options available for the President to handle the Watergate scandal differently (The Washington Post, 1973). The views elicit the level of fault established by President Nixon in an effort to interfere with investigations on the events surrounding the Watergate scandal. Changing Views The events of the Watergate scandal developed a different perspective on how the public viewed politics and politicians. The public has been concerned about the events that take place in the political environment and culture. Technological innovations are pivotal to informing people in a fast and convenient way like for instance the Arab spring that initiated revolutions utilized the social media to chart for a democratic course. On the other end, social media can be a platform for fake news where misrepresentation can mislead a significant number of the population.
