The story reflect the real life situation of individuals especially women in gaining their freedom which they are ever keeping their secrets to their self, the aim of the author in bringing out the theme is mainly to address individuals self-esteem and freedom. There were many developing events in “The Story of an Hour” which are deem to be happening very fast, the author openly relayed all the information and events associated with theme which makes the reader to well evaluate and understand the role of freedom in the society. From the author point of view life can change very fast without even the person realizing the impact it had on his past, it is under a minimum of one hour that Mrs.

Mallard was read the news that indeed her husband is dead. Mallard could not easily tell freedom which is coming to her but instead thought that the only freedom she had is when she is alone in a closed room and immediately he move out of the room she loses her own self esteem not even to understand her freedom. Immediately he feels her freedom coming, she could be overwhelmed with joy to an extent that she could forget herself as well as her past situation. She could again go ahead while confined in the room alone to experience his mental and emotional freedom ‘Into this [armchair] she sank, pressed down by a physical exhaustion that haunted her body and seemed to reach into her soul’.

( Kate P. Her confinement room was what she could use to console herself and that is where she can obtain her freedom. It could sometimes be worse in situations where nature comes against us in that we are ever the lesser beings we depend on the services as well as the care of human beings in order to survive the hard conditions in which we are subjected to. However, sometimes when we are under difficult moments and hard decisions are to be made we are expected to take the first impression to take a bold step in action, in the story ‘To Build a Fire’ we are made to understand as well as appreciate the action of the characters who are expected to make decisions on which directions we have to undertake.
