Name: Professor: Course: Date: Critical Analysis of “As I Lay Dying” As I lay Dying is a novel written by William Faulkner and he uses various styles to bring out the major ideas of the book. The family described in the novel seems to be a dysfunctional one especially because the father Anse is a very lazy man and doesn’t even show love to his family. The relationships between the family members are strained and it is like the family is striving to stay together especially during this time when their mother Addie is at her deathbed. The five children four boys and one girl must take up adult roles in order to keep the family together and to cater for their needs. Usually Anse their father does not work hard at all and he would just have his children to the work. Their mother who was the one working their mother Jefferson amid the harsh weather they still work together to take her there and fulfill her last wish.
