Uncanny as infantile fear or repressed infantile wish

Essay question : "In infancy, the child had no fear of its doll coming to life, it may even have desired it" (SIGMUND FREUD). In your opinion, is Freud right to suggest that the source of the feeling of the uncanny is often not an infantile fear but a repressed infantile wish? Essay needs to contain and focus on at least one of more texts dealt in the term. It would be interesting for me if you can choose sandman as a set example for the question and one more other text provided below as a extra example while dealing with the term “uncanny” using the texts provided [Set texts dealt in this term] Algernon Blackwood "The Man Whom the Trees Loved" (1912) H.P. Lovecraft "The Rats in the Walls" (1923) Extract from Tzvetan Todorov, The Fantastic: a Structural Approach to Literary Genre [1970] trans. by Richard Howard (Ithaca: Cornell University Press, 1973). Guy de Maupassant "The Horla" (1887) Giorgio Manganelli, Centuria (1979) Sigmund Freud, “The Uncanny” (“Das Unheimliche”, 1919) in The Uncanny, transl. by Hugh Haughton, London: Penguin, 2003, pp. 221-40). E.T.A. Hoffmann, "The Sandman" ("Der Sandmann", 1816). Sophocles, Philoctetes Sir Gawain and the Green Knight Mary Shelley's Frankenstein or the modern Prometheus. Franz Kafka, “A Report to an Academy” (“Bericht an eine Akademie”, 1917) transl. by Willa and Edwin Muir, in Collected Stories (New York and London: Knopf, 1946), pp. 195-204.
