A client has a right to be respected and given quality services (Jacob, S. R, 2015). When the nurse understands a client better, it will be easy to advocate for the client. This will enhance quality health services for clients in a multicultural society. Here are a few terms which are very crucial in understanding the different cultures. After a number of years, there would be a ratio o 3:1 in the population. This means that in every three American there would be one person from the minority group. This translated that, after 20years the minority will be equal to half the population of United States (Douglas and Purnell, 2014). Older people above 65 years are increasing at a high rate. This indicates a challenge as there would be an increase in chronic diseases associated with old age.

Culturally competent care should also focus on these marginalized populations. They include; gays lesbians, old folks, and recently arrived immigrants. They are mostly ignored and have no voice to speak out of their selves i. e. (Jeffreys, 2015). Unemployment and idleness lead to desperation and frustrations which yields violence. Homicide has been the highest cause of death in youths, 15-24 among whites and 15-34 among African America. Schools, churches, playground, and restaurants have been the avenues of violence. Also, intimate partner violence (IPV) has been common among youths; it has been the major cause of injuries to women between 15 to 24 years of age. It has occurred across all racial, social-economic and educational lines. Some of the minority may have qualified but lack moral support and guidance on the importance of nursing as a profession (Jacob, 2015).

Other disciplines may be having better marketing strategies for their courses which may be easily accessible to the minority groups. Strategies for Employing and Keeping of Marginalized in the Health Care Work Force Prioritizing recruitment of under-represented groups. All Nursing organizations in the United States came to a consensus of giving the minority group a priority during recruitment as lack of minority representatives may portray a negative picture to a potential student that nursing does not value diversity. Academic leaders working to address the issue of under-representation. Reasons for Cultural Competence It portrays a different culture of nurses from that of the client. If the care is not culturally competence, it tends to be costly on part of the patient. Cultural competence increases effectiveness in health care result (Giger, 2016).
