One of the major challenges facing the adoption of this technology is the acute resistance posed by those who should implement it. Studies involving the rate of adoption of EHRs have shown that health care organizations have increasingly continued to adopt EHRs (Charles, Gabriel, & Furukawa, 2013). Nurses are main implementers of changes in their organizations. However, their influence on the decisions of health organizations to adopt new technologies determines the success of the adopted technologies. Thus, as agents of change, nurses should cooperate with their leaders to facilitate positive change for improved performance of their organizations. Therefore, persuading employees to develop an attitude that favor the implementation of electronic health records is among the activities I would perform during the meeting. Some nurses are uncertain about the functionality of the new technology while others are influenced by their colleagues to develop negative personal opinions concerning the new technology (Veer et al.

Therefore, persuasion will serve to change their perceptions of EHR system by convincing them that the new technology will not only increase the efficiency of job performance but will also enable the institution to comply with some federal laws relating to the safety of patients. Sensitizing nurses on the compatibility of EHR system with their work culture Of course, the information relating to patients must be stored in a way that allows easy retrieval and reference. Before the new electronic system was developed, health organizations were using the manual storage systems. Analyzing the role of nurses as change agents in facilitating the adoption of new technology Nurses are the major agents of change because they are the implementers of new technologies adopted by health organizations.

One of the roles of nurses in the implementation of the new technology is to influence their colleagues to embrace this technology. Nurses have been identified as both facilitators and hindrance to the adoption of new technologies. They hinder the ability of their organizations to adopt new technologies by influencing their colleagues to develop negative perceptions of the new technologies (Charles, Gabriel, & Furukawa, 2013). Thus, nurses should preach the benefits of new technology to their colleagues to influence them towards the adoption of this technology.
