The communication used to be channeled through the relevant procedures and protocols. For instance, in one fire incident, the company utilized both the security guard’s walkie-talkies to guide the employee to the fire assembly point; an act that prevented chaos as a result of panic. The effect of having the disaster communication plan was that the workplace was more organized and it ensured accountability in case of emergencies. Moreover, it gave employees a sense of security. Having a plan is essential in effectively responding to any challenge and lack of would result to confusion particularly with parties that are unaware of the prevailing issue (Sellnow, Seeger & Ulmer, 2011).
