Excelling in athletics is admirable as evidenced by the number of colleges high school amateur and professional athletes who engage in sports to pit their abilities against their peers and experience satisfaction associated with playing to their full potential. However there are those whose desire is only fame and recognition and would do anything to win. Thus they justify their use of anabolic steroids as driven by the desire to win. Anabolic steroids have the potential to inflict irreversible body damage and significant side effect. Use of steroids can result in increased blood pressure and cholesterol levels leading to conditions such as a heart attack. Hence it is important we address the issue of steroids in sports to guard against loss and ruin of players the problem of steroid use in sports and avoid a future crop of sportsmen and women who rely on sports boosters to perform in games.
