Student’ Name Professor’s Name Course name Date Services in Your Area DSL and Cable Technologies and their Operation Areas Internet connection can be achieved in various ways. One may use a wireless connection as seen through Wi-Fi or they can employ the use of a modem. There are several broadband modems currently in the market (Beal 2005). However there are two commonly used modems which transfer data in analog form before converting them to digital signals so that the information may be decipherable for both the DLS and cable modem. It is important to note that each of these two kinds of modems has their benefits. One outstanding factor however is that they are both more rapid in data transfer than dial-up. Due to this quickness they are usually referred to as high-speed internet access. DSL DSL is the short form for Digital subscriber line a group of technologies such as the T1 and T3 may be considered (File Thom and Camille 2013). However the current era has provided a wide variety of internet options such as Fiber Optics and the Wimax. Recommendation One would therefore recommend the use of Cable technology over DSL due to several reasons. To begin with the technology is relatively safer from activities such as tapping and eavesdropping. Secondly the technology offers relatively faster download speeds as compared to DSL. Finally the technology is much cheaper compared to DSL. References Beal  V. (2005). Cable Vs. DSL: Internet and Cable Explained by Retrieved December 13 2017 from Silcon Valley. (2001).
