Student’s Name Tutor’s Name Course Date The Filmmakers Coen Brothers Ethan Jesse Coen and Joel David Coen who are collectively identified in the world of film as the Coen brothers are remarkable and incredible filmmakers based in America. The two brothers' films cover a wide range of genres and spar a variety of styles but a notable feature among most of their films is comedy. They are award-winning producers and directors who mostly work jointly or have different contributions to their work at different stages. Their filmography consists of over 25 renowned films they have contributed to since 1984 and some of which have not yet been released (Levine). Some of their notable works among comedy and drama enthusiasts include Miller’s Crossing The Big Lebowski True Gift Fargo and A serious man among others. Most of their work has a unique way of portraying dark comedy as opposed to brothers as dark comedy that is crime-oriented thus the major depiction of dark comedy is the violence – an aspect that is dominant in all the films (Freer). Primarily in the world of comedy films by Coen brothers can be described as violent. However the use of explicit language and sexuality in the same movies gives the films idealistic representation of dark comedy. Works Cited Conard Mark T. ed. The philosophy of the Coen brothers.
