Main Character Analysis - The Perk of Being a Wallflower Author’s Name Institutional Affiliation Main Character Analysis - The Perk of Being a Wallflower The film The Perk of Being a Wallflower (2012) directed by and based on the novel authored by Stephen Chbosky involves a life of a teenager; Charlie who is extremely socially awkward and introverted. The movie is a narration of the main character’s story in regards to his childhood development experiences and now the recent challenge that he has to face as a freshman in high school. Having a socially awkward and introverted personality but yet extremely thoughtful and observant traits Charlie is faced with a problem of making friends in high school having been released from high school. He finds social solace in his two close friends; Sam and his step-brother Patrick who throughout the friendship experience they change Charlie’s social perspectives and even situations. His behavior one that I can term as socially poor can be attributed to the kind of attention and care that his caregivers the parents gave him as a young child. He does not have a good connection to either the parents of his siblings; Chris and Candace. It is this social deficiency that makes him lack friends and the ability to make some. References Berk LE.
