Most religions take the intention ending of life to be offensive acts against religion due to the sanctify and holiness of the human life. However, most of the individuals who choose assisted euthanasia do not want to be emotional or financial burden to their loved ones (Alias, Muhammad, & Kassim, 2015). Advanced life support is a common intervention in the modern life as more people suffer from diseases. The possible deterioration of George’s health in future necessitates Advanced Life Support healthcare access. Understanding the underlying religious concepts enhances healthcare staff relation with the religious patient as well as deliverance of healthcare services with considerations on how to use the religious belief to improve the patient health outcome (Shelly & Miller, 2009). Christianity as a key source of knowledge is based on the moral and teaching of the bible on what is true or false, right or wrong.

The religions emphasis on disassociation with the secular earthly authority (Hall, 2017). Islamic worldview is based on the teaching and ideologies Prophet Muhammad. Muhammned claims Allah revealed to him the holy Quran, a religious document that requires all the follower to submit to the will of Allah. It views human beings as a creation of God who is the life giver (Ahaddour, Van den Branden & Broeckaert, 2017). George multifaceted career is used to being an independent person responsible for his own action and decision. The prospect of progressive dependence and the thought of depending too much on the family as well as other members of the society due to the imminent disability torments his spirit to the point of considering Voluntary euthanasia. After the diagnosis of Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), George perceived being bound to the wheel chair due to eventual motor and muscular failure as well as the extreme possibility of losing means of communication speech and mobility as reduced dignity and power to his personality and life perception.

The eminent change of status in the family and society as dependable provider and contributor to complete dependence especially at old age make George dread his future life. The nature of George’s malady and suffering The state of sickness and wellbeing in both Christian and Islamic viewpoints as provisions by the almighty being. The absolute value of life does not change due to the presence of advanced life support. Despite the change in social status and abilities, George value of life remains intact as religious person. Muslim view on value of life Islamic teaching preach on reliance on Allah for life guidance and assistance. The sanctity of life is well promoted and protected in the Islamic holy teachings. Analyzes of the Quran and prophetic traditions Fatwas on end of life ethics and treatments leading to termination of life highlight the idea of dignified death but Allah mercies on his being does not permit self-killing (Baydar & Ilkilic, 2017).

The religion consider death an ultimate fixed end of the life granted only by Allah. It should come naturally without any intervention made by a man or woman due to the sanctity of life. Islamic religion promotes acceptance of life challenges, tolerance and patience in handling life’s hardship rather than creating intentions and deliberation in ending life while praying and having faith on the deliverance from the suffering by Allah through his miracles, messengers and prophets (Rayan, Alzayyat & Khalil, 2015). The Islamic structure of the teachings intends to instil confidence, trust, and faith in Allah as God, the teaching give hope that alleviate the suffering and hardships of this life. Christianity According to Christian teaching, life is a highly valued and treasured gift from the God.

Based on Islamic teaching it is paramount to ensure that complete trust and reliance on the Allah. George should consider alternative options such as seeking active believers and imams to pray for deliverance from bad health (Landry, Foreman & Kekewich, 2015). Increasing one’s service to the lord and seeking faith healing such as praying for Allah mercy to heal and improve George’s health condition. Reducing demanding tasks as well as taking more calm and restive responsibilities in the family and society can help George regain his purpose of life despite the ALS condition. Despite the bleak future, he should have the faith on the in the Almighty provider as despite the odds he still has a likelihood that he would live up to 10 or more years.
