“Americans agree that a child’s future should not depend on his or her heritage, parent’s income, or neighborhood where he or she stays. Our sense of justice insists that America be the land of opportunity where all of its citizens are considered equal” (Cortez, 2013). Equality and quality education are included in that equal opportunity. In the present society, most of the Americans education is viewed to be a pillar of economic growth. Different policies have been initiated to ensure that educational progress is necessitated. Many claimed that desegregation would provide the remedy for funding inequality. Desegregation did not produce funding equality. Desegregation magnified and created more inequality. Therefore, this paper will describe the education policies, the funding system, and how it has impacted the education system in the United States.

Overview of Education system and policies The Federal government has made efforts of ensuring that the education system of the U. Discussion The government agencies should come to terms with the current problems to ensure that the prevalence of such issues is controlled. The government should bridge the gap that exists in the education system between the fortunate and less fortunate as it has widened the education system. Furthermore, the government should not give the teachers reasonable autonomy. The introduction of some of the common cases will help solve some of the essential areas that are being rampant. Through such ways, the education system can be improved. The approach will eliminate adverse school funding regimes that discriminate. The weakness of this policy is its high costs.

The procedure is also going to make the State and Local governments to participate less in the education system. The increase in Federal involvement is too intrusive to the legislative boundaries of the State government and the local governments. The second option of reducing the responsibility of the Federal government reduces the cost of the Federal government. Funding based primarily on revenues generated from property taxes compounds the disparity between wealthy and poor districts. None of the current funding mechanism is effective in eliminating disparities in funding. Focusing on funding students rather than districts is a better plan to eliminate the disparity. The best public education funding approach is the increase of Federal government funding. It is the sole responsibility of any central government to ensure that her citizens have access to quality education.
