Name Institution Date of submission Racial Equality Achieving racial equality in America appears to be slow but the progress is inevitable. Even though the American political leadership pretends that everything is alright between the white and black people the reality is that there are underlying issues of racial equality. According to a study conducted by Pew Research Centre revealed that 40% of African-American has doubted that the nation will ever achieve visible milestone on racial equality. The white Americans totally believe that racial equality has been achieved and the black people use racial equality as an excuse for their failure to excel (McKnight 2013). During president’s Obama presidency the conversation was much alive and the African-American expected him to be vocal on the issues of racial equality. Also the shootings of unarmed Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown have renewed the racial equality talk in both political and social forums. an individual person must do to promote effectiveness and functioning democratic systems is to respect the institutions which uphold democracy. Respecting and appreciating their existence gives the leadership confidence to continue advocating and safeguarding democracy.
