My research topic is the effects of pet therapy on the pediatric patient self esteem. I will investigate the impact of the hospital stay on the child in various age/developmental levels. Does pet therapy off a sense of reassurance to the child?

APA format, 5-7 pages. Thorough literature search. Plus reference page. Must references with last 5 years. This paper should address the "culture" of pet therapy. • Introduction: Introductions in short papers should be short--maybe 3-4 sentences long. Begin with some general statement about your topic. The topic or issue should be stated in the first opening sentence. Provide some pertinent background, or explain why there have been problems with the topic or even disagreements about it, or maybe suggest why that topic is so important today to the health profession or the general public. End the paragraph with your thesis. Remember that your thesis is what the rest of the paper will be about. How do you evaluate previous work? Is it sufficient? Does it give only a limited amount of information? What sort of information does your approach reveal, and what are its limitations. In other words, you are trying to define the scope of your question. The rest of the paper is analytical. In the introduction then when you’re talking about what others have done on the subject, or making generalized or specific statements about their findings. You must reference these people in your text. • Body of Paper: Sub-divide your thesis/conclusion into 4-5 sub-points. Those sub-points will form the topic sentences for the body paragraphs--the point that you want to make in that paragraph. Each topic sentence should be followed by lots of specific details and examples and short quotations from the texts, as well as your explanation/analysis of that information. WRITING TIP: Arrange your sub-points according to the most important points and your assessment of them. Begin with your second-best sub-point followed by your weakest sub-point and then work your way up to your best sub-point at the end so that the paper finishes on a strong note. Organize your ideas in the same way. A statement on how your work extends upon previous assessments? Remember direct quotes should be single spaced if they are more than three lines, and indented. Also, write these papers in the past tense so you do not get grammatically confused. Write in the third person, unless you are describing an interview or narrative that you directly participated in conducting. In this case you can write in the first person. You should have a discussion section. This is where you weight the analysis and develop your conclusion based on the evidence you list or acknowledge. • Conclusion: Conclusions in short papers should be short--maybe 3-4 sentences long. Your analysis occurs in the discussion section. Begin the concluding paragraph with a re-statement of your opening thesis/conclusion--but in language very different than was used in the introduction. In a couple more sentences, refer to your topic as a whole-- why it is significant and worth studying, for instance, or finally, what the particular methodology has added to the assessment of the disease, public health/nursing or medical issue. Grading: LEVEL 5 / A Introduction is relevant with clear thesis giving an overview of the paper or text you are evaluating. The topic is presented in an analytical format, logically organized and coherently presenting the development of your ideas The body of the text should analyzes rather than summarizes Uses support material that is relevant, effective and appropriate for the purpose and recent (past five years), unless there is a particular reason to refer to older data in giving a history. This is where you can be descriptive giving your evidence directly from the text for the assessments you make. Use specifics from the literature as your evidence. How are you critical? How do you agree or disagree with previous work?
