Besides that, there was also another case where a white policeman shot an African-American suspect instead of apprehending him to face justice. Additionally, media messages depict Africans as people who are slow to embrace change and hardly accommodate ways of life that do not conform to their norms and values (Holtzman & Sharpe, 2014). For example, the majority of media messages indicate that virtually all Africans are against same sex relationships. On the other hand, the stereotypes and generalizations that occur in a contrasting culture stem from the fact that people have been used to certain way of life that new way of life does not seem to bother them or the fact people are afraid to embrace the new ways for fear of being the odd one out.

For example, the African culture may strongly discourage the issue of the same-sex marriage while in the same culture people still embrace autonomy of one's decisions on grounds that there is freedom to love anybody; one is free to love whoever he or she wants to love. Majority of the media messages promote sex between unmarried partners (youths and adolescents) than between spouses and they hardly cover sexually transmitted Infections and the issue of early pregnancies. The media makers need to understand that globalization has led to the creation of a series of interconnected but unequal global villages that interpret media messages differently. As such, the media messages need to be tailored to the society that the media makers are targeting.

For example, on the issue of homosexuality, media makers need to understand that globalization societies have not reached a consensus on a common stand on the issue (Lule, 2017). Africans, Asians, Indians, and Arabs are opposed to the concept of same sex partners/marriage and are bound to reject any form of communication on the matter. As opposed to televisions which depict same-sex partners kissing in public, and holding hands, the newspaper only covers the reasons why same-sex partnerships should be promoted and mentioning of some successive same-sex marriage stories. Rosenberry and Vicker (2017) further asserts that television covers unprecedented diversity in representation of sexuality in programs such as Empire as opposed to the newspaper which does talk of the sex life of the same sex partners.

It is interesting to note that newspapers did balance their coverage through the inclusion of the opinion of the people who oppose same-sex marriage while Television limited the critic of the same-sex marriage. News coverage in the United States is varied considering the fact that there moments where the coverage is relatively good and true and there are moments when the news coverage is poor and based on unproven facts. For example, political campaigns and elections in the United States are covered with a substantial of professionalism from anchors, interviewers, and reporters. Furthermore, in times of tragedies such as the Hurricanes, the American media’s coverage of that news item has been applauded for not only showing the American culture of resilience but also going a step further of lending helping hands in the rescue missions.
