Name Instructor Course Date Bride of Frankenstein Bride of Frankenstein stands out as one of the most impactful science-fiction horror films. The 1935 American film focuses on the exploit of Dr. Henry Frankenstein and Doctor Pretorius as they endeavor to create a mate for the atrocious Monster. The film begins on a stormy night in a house where Lord Byron and Percy Shelly are holding court with Mary Shelly as they praise her for her original ingenious story Frankenstein. At this point Mary discloses that the story has an interesting sequel. The original story ends at the point where the Monster has died and the village liberated. However the scene of the film shifts to the point where the Monster has survived the fire and embarked on a vengeful mission around the village. At this point Frankenstein who was also presumed dead has arisen and is full of regrets the Monster and Pretorius is strong and balanced whereas the one between the Monster and its mate ends at the beginning. Overall the film reveals multiple angles that suggest same sex relationships. There are various possibilities of the relationship that takes place between the Monster and the male characters in the play. The failure of the project to create a mate for the Monster suggests that the film director was somewhat disinclined to heterosexual relationships. In this regard one of the underlying meanings of the film could be deciphered from studying the patterns of relationship between the Monster and its male creators and the significance of creation in the context of same sex relationships. The uniqueness of the play lies in its tangled relationships between the male characters and the male Monster. Works Cited Bride of Frankenstein. (Dir.) 1935. Universal Pictures. Ebert Roger.
