They are often characterized by a desire to achieve a certain amount of easy wealth without much strain. During the ancient times they were not limited to specific activities. However during the ancient Greece and the Roman period people could attend arenas where they could gamble or bet for a certain fighter. Betting and gambling have been associated with fun and enjoyment. However the pain that comes with it is unbearable (Haerens 2). Areas where governments have legalized gambling have seen a rise in poverty rates and owners of the entities that control betting and gambling swimming in wealth. In this case few people have been made wealthy while the majority of gamblers are poor folks. It is due to this perturbing revelation that has made the recent rise in these industries there is more than what meets the eye. In this case there might be cases of unreported fraud. As a result governments need to keep a tight check on betting and gambling. They should also check the systems and the financial practices employed by these companies. Avenues for reporting evil betting practices need to be opened and made accessible to the general public. Taxes need to be raised on gambling and sports betting companies to counterbalance their gains.
