Name Instructor Course Date Privatization of social security Introduction Social security in the United States has been considered an essential pillar of the American economy. Social security includes services such as a program for old age survivors and insurance for incapacitation that may lead to disability workers compensation temporary disability insurance Veterans benefits and government employee retirement systems. (Quadagno & Pederson 2012). Social security aims at providing self-sufficiency to the citizens. The social security scheme aims at benefitting citizens who need a financial assistance. The system also focuses on particular groups such as the early retirement lot. The history and foundation of the social benefit scheme explain the economic and industrial revolution that took place in a majority of industrialized countries. The American economy shifted from an agricultural based to a motivated industrial economy. The changes led to a need for a social security system to cater for the system that would invest wisely to generate the income to compensate the beneficiaries. In conclusion the future of the government-funded social benefit scheme remains bleak in consideration of issues such as possible depletion of funds by 2034. The benefits derived from privatization of the system would benefit both the government and potential beneficiaries. Some of the benefits enjoyed in case the scheme gets privatized are the possible assurance of benefits to the citizens; reduced taxes levied on their incomes and a self-controlled saving scheme among other targets.
