Brooke Lauginiger The Ku Klux Klan: A Counterculture In the American Society Picture a perfect, white world filled up with Christian beings. No one defied their values, no one searched any unique of they did. This was the normal aspiration of most people of the infamous group The Ku Klux Klan, often referred to as the KKK. Made in 1865, in Pulaski Tennessee, the Ku Klux Klan was established as a way of upholding white supremacy in an enjoyable experience of change incorporating non-Caucasian individuals (Newton 7). The Ku Klux Klan can be known as an example of a counterculture in their time, which also happens to be relevant to today. A counterculture can be defined as an organization that rejects the beliefs, norms, and tactics of the larger culture and replaces them with a fresh set of ethnic patterns tailored with their beliefs(Thomas 37).
