In the case of children, the parents form the first social networks from whom children learn how to behave and relate with other people in the community. In the field of social psychology, Stein et al. (2014) aim to find out if parenting should be targeted in interventions in the course of explaining the perinatal disorders in children. The evidence from the study proves that there exists a relationship between perinatal mental disorder and the psychological and developmental disturbances in children thus resulting in adverse child outcomes. With these regards, both the fathers’ and mothers’ mental health have been associated with the child developmental disturbances. D. Conclusions from the review Based on this review, it is important to note that research in social psychology is slow, gradual, and cumulative as social psychologists seek to understand social behavior.

With these regards, a study by one researcher is not stand-alone because the researcher may be trying to answer or find an answer to a particular research question. Stein et al. (2014) aim at finding out whether there is a need to target parenting as an intervention in the course of explaining the perinatal disorders in children. In their study, Hoge et al. (2006) used a population-based descriptive study to examine all Army soldiers as well as Marines who had gone through their usual post-deployment. F. How the research designs helped in completing the surveys The primary goal of any research in social psychology is to find out a causal relationship between independent and dependent variables. In such cases, the researchers have to choose experimental research designs which help researchers to complete their study.

Along with the development of technology, the manner in which information is stored and shared has also changed. For instance, personal health applications that provide feed-backs and other forms of decision-making have been developed, and they are based on patient-input in the healthcare systems (Johnson & Burns, 2015). Moreover, the use of automatic decision support in healthcare services raise issues around the use of authoritative statements and use of decision-support with individuals who have a mental illness. Additionally, the vulnerability to possible fraud claims is also of significant concern in the field of medicine and social psychology, and this has dramatically signaled an essential focus on particular avenues for incorrect billing and claims as well, including the EMRs (Joubert, 2006). Despite these challenges, the safety and security of personal information should be protected, and it remains ethical for healthcare providers not to release all the personal health information to the public unless demanded by authorities or patient through writing.

D. How to account for ethical issues Since the information, I will collect from this study is personal, after data collection, I will store the data in a CD ROM and protected with a secure password to ensure that the data cannot be transferred or stolen by malicious users. With these regards, I will seek to preserve this information according to the HIPAA standards for the electronic data, and the responsibility of the personal health applications with the health providers (Borkin, 2003). E. Applying knowledge My decision to ensure that the participants’ data is stored in a CD ROM and protected by a strong password is influenced by the principles of informed consent and privacy of the participants’ information which I have learned throughout the course.
