The objective of this research is to assess the impact of poverty on education in some selected developing countries. It is the aim of this work to try and gauge the role played by poverty in performance in schools by comparing the number of those who qualify for higher learning for both students from poor backgrounds and those from those above the poverty line backgrounds. Introduction Eradication of poverty and provision of quality education both tops the UN’s SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) at number One and Four respectively (check the appendix for reference on SDG). This without a doubt indicates that even though other factors affect the provision of quality education poverty plays the biggest role in mostly developing countries. An intriguing article titled “The Link economic activities to put food on the table also involve them leaving them with little if not any at all time to study. Compared to their counterparts from well off backgrounds students from poor families are severely disadvantaged when it comes to learning. This is shown by the large numbers of poor students who do not proceed to higher learning institutions. Education stakeholders should therefore give more focus to eradication of poverty in their bid to deliver quality education. It is critical for the governments in developing countries where poverty is still high to give poverty eradication of poverty priority in an effort to make education available to all. Programs aimed at supplying learning materials and ensuring that students from poor background stays in school should also be rolled out by these governments and education stakeholders.
