An effective advertisement is an ad that impacts the viewer. An advertisement that successfully meets this criterion is the "think of both sides" ad through its use of emotion, colors, and word selection. This paper aims at discussing some of the features to consider for visual analysis of an effective advertisement. Essentially, a good advertisement has to be associated with amusement, enjoyment, contentment along with illustration of positivity to enhance involvement and engagement of the target group. An example of a well-doing advertisement is that of Coca-Cola that uses taglines such as open happiness and taste the feeling, whereby it demonstrates cheerfulness and engagement. Many advertisements benefit from bright colors for because they attract attention, which is aimed at impressing the targeted group (Puzakova et al 365-376).

For example when advertising hot dog, one may use red and yellow colors for specified reasons. Choosing incorrect color affects people’s perception of the advertised commodity. Further, word selection is very important in very advertisement made, firstly one must use words with will get viewers’ attention, by letting them know what you are offering and its benefits to them. Bad selection of words makes the advertisement ineffective. For instance, one may consider color, emotions and word selection by considering both sides to positively influence the viewer.
