 This study utilized Xanthan Gum (XG) and starch. Both substances are polymeric biomolecules derived from living organisms. Therefore they are referred to as biopolymers. The XG is a natural high molecular weight polymeric carbohydrate; otherwise known as polysaccharides. In this study the XG was used to enhance the viscosity of the drilling fluid. Besides it coupled up as a stabilizer. In fact XG is a suitable and significant additive in the process of formulating the drilling fluid. To start with it reduces the amount of fluid lost during the drilling process. In addition it acts as a viscosifier in form of both oil and water-based drilling mud. In the same line the XG is eco-friendly when it is utilized in the drilling fluids application.
