FETAL ABNORMALITY CASE STUDY The topic of moral status is a complex and often controversial one both in the past and in the present. In this specific story Jessica is pregnant but the doctor discovers that the fetus has not developed arms and is very unlikely to develop them. The fetus also has a 25 percent chance of developing Down Syndrome. The doctor suggests abortion. This story leaves us with two vital questions: does a fetus with abnormalities have moral status? Does knowing the diagnosis infringe on the moral status of the family also hinged on the consideration of the quality of life of the child it is not a selfish one. Best choices are informed on their consequences. In conclusion the case study Fetal Abnormality is a typical representative of ethical concerns in the medical field and the society as a whole. In the society of today debates on ethical issues such as abortion physician-assisted suicide euthanasia and animal rights have always emerged and have consistently equally been addressed unsatisfactorily.
