In most books of references and dictionary, sex refers to a lot of different ideas. The first aspect is the distinguishing biological characteristics among living things. Thus organisms are placed into classification according to their organs. Sex also refers to the intercourse act between a male and a female species attracted to each other for reproduction and pleasure. It happens in living organisms that are both sexually reproducing living things and of same species. However, in rare cases, there are Trans genders born where the baby has both reproductive organs. In this research study, there are major distinctions that enable people to understand what sex refers to. They include; reproductive systems, hormones, chromosomes, and gametes. Reproductive systems This refers to the biological organs and characteristics both in male and female species.

This will help differentiate between a man and a woman through their internal and external sex organs. They are micro, very many and are always mobile. Whereas in the female, they have ova or eggs which are large and immobile sex cells waiting for fertilization. Hormones They are substances produced by tissues in the body and then transferred to other tissues through blood for physiological functioning of the body. They are key determinants of how the body will develop both internally and externally. In this case, females have different high levels of certain hormones, unlike males. Thus the gametes in producing a female are XXX and a male is XXY. It is evident there are high chances of conceiving a girl for a couple if the man has fewer Y chromosomes and they become dormant hence very low chances of conceiving a boy.

From the major areas of distinction in sex, there is an understanding that nature takes it to cause in determining the biological characteristics and their functioning. It is based on genetic development and these springs up the differences which create genitalia which is first formed during conception till birth, growth and old age. GENDER (Brettell, 2009) describes gender as the presentation and understanding of oneself as male or female. Femininity and Masculinity This is basically the aspect of associating with the gentle and soft side of humanity. Females are considered as loving, strong and approachable. Various characteristics identify an individual as feminine: pink colors, especially on clothing, will identify someone’s gender to be feminine. As soon as a baby is born, a girl’s clothing will be pink in color.
