The Abrahamic religions bring a precise definition of idolatry. Such religions encompass Islam, Judaism as well as Christianity. They hold to the fact that idolatry is the worshipping of any other thing other than God. However, individuals worship such an image as it were God. That has taken different roots in the contemporary society in which individuals value money, power, fame as well as other material things. The commandment gives individuals six days to do their work (Societies 23). Resting on the 7th day and dedicated it to God is prudent. Nobody should be working on that day. Individuals are disobeying the commandment and instead, work on approaches to satisfy their ego and pride. People want to make money without understanding the implication of their actions.

For instance, God commanded things such as light to exist (Carroll and Stephen 14). Scientists thwart such beliefs and make humans believe that specific chemical processes play a crucial role in the formation of light and water for example. That makes humans drift away from believing in the Bible. Most people tend to think that the knowledge is all that matters. That itself is a form of idolatry. Developed countries offer access to any food and drinks. The United States, for instance, records a high case of obesity. Individuals in these areas consume almost every kind of food they desire.
