My community service experiences
Main Points: I. Benefits of community service for myself and the recipients II. My love for volunteering and community service. III. _______________ (Kindly note, the points were quite redundant so please take a look at the entire outline and encapsulate the General and Specific Purpose along with the Introduction and body. You might be wondering WHY would anyone want to work for free…well, I’m glad you asked. Growing up in a broken home made me appreciate the volunteers that helped me. Many are the holidays I spent all by myself, without food to eat, or anyone to present me with a gift, no matter how simple. For the most part, my holidays were dark and wholly devoid of fun, that is until volunteers brightened up my days with gifts and food.
I cherish fond memories of my childhood moments due to their sacrifices and I have grown to appreciate that. My many years of experience has helped me realize that the true satisfaction in volunteering does not only lie in the volunteer emotional benefits, but the satisfaction also ensuring recipients needs are being met. II. Prior to working with Baltimore City School Police, I participated in a plethora of community service events, but two particularly stand out. I volunteered in our local Bea Gaddy soup kitchen and provided a helping hand in serving the homeless. Interacting with the disabled and homeless, empathizing with their suffering has been insightful and increased my appreciation for the small things in life. A caring heart and a listening ear could be all that we need during our worst of days and especially more so during trying times.
