The story is about a woman who is made to believe that her husband is dead and contemplate the new life of freedom for herself. In “The Story of an hour” authored by Kate Chopin, Mrs. Mallard’s emotions remain unstable as she goes through a moment of psychological self-actualization until her last breath. Through irony and imagination, Chopin navigates her readers into the emotions of Mrs. Mallard, the protagonist of the short story.
