The components of a waveform and related definitions- Wavelength – It is the physical length travelled by sound in a cycle OR is the distance between two identical points in a sound wave. Period – It is the time required to complete a single cycle Frequency – is the number of cycles of compressions and rarefactions in a sound wave per second Propagation speed – the rate at which sound travels through a medium / It is the temporal time variation of the wave and its spatial variation. It is represented by the product of frequency and wavelength c=fλ. Cycle of a waveform – represents an area covered by two regions of dissimilar pressure Cycle – the combination of one rarefaction and one compression. Spatial resolution – what factors determine itSpatial resolution is the minimum spacing required between two small objects (point targets) so that they can be viewed steering of a steering of a transducer array to rapidly acquire several (3 to 9) overlapping scans of an object from different view angles. Compound imaging shows improved image quality compared with conventional ultrasound primarily because of reduction of speckle clutter and other acoustic artifacts. Thermal index This refers to the estimated temperature increase as displayed by the machine. This is done when the user knows that one or more of the assumptions made by the machine in estimating the temperature increase is likely to be wrong then they must factor this into their interpretation of the machine’s estimate of the temperature rise. Mechanical index This refers to a number designed to indicate the risk of cavitation. It is displayed by the ultrasound machine to allow the user to decide whether the current machine settings can be considered as safe or whether there is some risk to the patient. [...]
Ultrasound Physics I am writing up an exam revision sheet to study off for an exam that I have coming up in a couple of days and I need to start memorizing its content. I don't have time to both research and write the content of the cheat sheet while memorizing it and the same time. Its about 60% done. Take a look at if you want to tackle it. Its looks big but the answers only need to be a paragraph, if that each. Short, concise, easy to memorize. Sections that need completing are highlighted yellow. I need this done within 24 hours. Writer will be handsomely rewarded.
