The author describes that there has emerged a tendency of secondary engagements by the drivers while on the roads. One of the major engagements has been noted to be the use of cell phones for purposes of texting and browsing. The article concludes that secondary engagements are the major causes of the accidents that are observed in the roads today. The research was carried out and a national sample was used to determine the general effect. " Computers in Human Behavior 76 (2017): 174-183. Gauld carried out the research with a guide of the planned behavior theory. The experimental research as carried out by Caird and the colleagues sought to make a determination on the direct effects of a driver talking on the phone. The main purpose was to determine its effects while driving in the society today. The analysis used the up to date met analysis tools to come with a determination. The research was also to give the determination on the kind of rules and policy that would be adopted on the legislation for the purposes of improving road safety. It is an authentic report for it used the relevant experimental methods to come up with the conclusions and the recommendations.

The research is relevant to the topic on the basis that it made a factual analysis of the use of the phones while on the traffic and proved them to be extremely risky.
