I chose a school setting to build my database I chose a grade 6 database structure of a learning institution that offers boarding services that performs the overall functioning of including registering students, grading them and providing various reports to needed parties (Abdollahi,2016). The database is made up of six tables described below Adm table The screenshot above shows the admin table in design view. The attribute Adm No is the primary key of the table. fees paid, teacher id and Hostel id is a lookup from tables Basic fee, class teachers, and Hostels table sequentially The image above is a screenshot of a section of the Adm table after it has been populated. It detects the associativity between attributes and tables. There are three major types of relationships. (Clark,2017) They include • One to many • Many to one • One to one • Many to many The diagram below addresses all the relationships structures used in designing this database. The Adm table has a one to many relationships with the Exam table through the Admission number. This implies that one student might have several examination results and one result is attached to one particular student. On the right-hand side, there are several functionalities including, Generating academic merit list and Students summaries in the academic sector. The academic merit list makes use of transactional queries to grade the students. In the finance, segment, there is a button that prints out a free report.
