Defense of habitation validates a person whose home is under an attack to use force upon the attacker. An occupant is vindicated in using deadly force in defending their place of residents and occupants from intrusions that may lead to violence. If a defendant is involved in a harmful act to an aggressor who threatens the defendants premises. This defense justifies the conduct constituting a criminal offence. Defense of habitation is also called Castle Doctrine. Many states have laws on this. A person should not use non-deadly force if s/he can seek out help by law implementation agents already on the same. Deadly force is not permitted in this defense even if it is the only available means unless life is threatened which will turn out to be self-defense and not defense of property.
