She often told him stories that intrigued him. In his early childhood, Doyle developed an interest in the same line as that of his mother. From 1868 to 1870 at the age 9, he attended a preparatory school by the name Jesuit which was at Hodder place, Stonyhurst. He later attended Stonyhurst college where he did his education for 5 years. This was where he developed a deep interest in storytelling due to the much attention younger student would pay to him. The writer Arthur Conan Doyle created ‘a fictional detective that featured in a publication that was in 1887. He is based on a real man who was Arthur’s professor by the name of Dr. Joseph Bell. The character that was being seen in Holmes was as similar to that of Dr.

Joseph Bell. As a result, he developed an attitude that was ambivalent. On one time, he decided to write to his mother and that was in the year 1891 November that he was thinking of slaying the character, Holmes. The net effect of this was a response from his mother that exempted him from doing so. This was to mean that she did not want him to slay the character. He even tried to raise the prices but the publishers were all willing to pay. For example, Watson has narrated and described Holmes to having a character that is moody and at the same time complex (Pearson & Roberta). He also says that he is fairly untidy although his habits were a little bit strict.

He could describe the character to having a habit of using cocaine, playing the violin or smoking any time the character Holmes went to a depressed mood. Another person who described the character of Holmes was Michael Harrison. He argued that Holmes had a character that was inspired and driven the various acts of Wendell Scherer. This is evident because of many short stories and novels that he wrote and which later became published. He had many accomplishments in the essence that many publishers were ready to work on his art even though he often wanted to stop. This is evident where even after trying to discourage them by the act of hiking the prices so as to stop writing about the character, they continued pressuring him to not stop doing so.
