Name Professor Course Date Environmental Science in Tourism Environmental Science Environmental science refers to the study of the interactions among the physical elements on earth as well as the various processes that affect the state of the surroundings. It is an interdisciplinary academic field that encompasses several other areas of research and study that contribute to a better understanding of the workings and state of the environment. In essence it can be divided into three aspects; understanding natural processes studying human interactions with the environment and the effects our interactions have on the same environment (Botkin $ Keller 32). It is also important to note that part of environmental science is finding ways to remedy the negative effects we have on the environment so as to maintain some sort of environmental equilibrium. Some of the natural phenomena that fall under the other game items. As a result the wildlife population especially for the big game was decimated with some species facing extinction. However in the recent past the reality of what poaching portends for the tourism sector has hit home. Conservation efforts have been multiplied in order to save rare species from extinction. Additionally big game hunting as a form of tourism has been outlawed in several countries. Works Cited Agrawal Arun. "Sustainable governance of common-pool resources: context methods and politics." Order Description:

The written assignment The aim of the written assignment is to demonstrate that you have understood the disciplines discussed. The assignment will have the form of a wiki article. This article should be a summarizing description of the relevant perspective of tourism. In this description you must give an informed and critical review of the basic tenets in each disciplinary perspective. The wiki article should be just like any other article on a Wiki. Following the concept of Wikis, the reader must be able to grasp all basic information in order to have a clear understanding of the relevant perspective. It is advisable that you use sections with headings to guide the reader through the information provided. The text must be informative in content and attractive in the eye. Try to avoid giving just a summary of the chapters you have read. Try to include more sources and find the issues you want to highlight as most interesting for the reader. Communicate interesting issues and competing arguments for the discussed disciplines emphasising their contribution on the body of knowledge for tourism as well as its limitations. The length of the text should be around 750 words (for both disciplines, so approximately 1000words for each discipline). An apparent source is the relevant chapter from the Holden textbook but additional resources are also required. Each student in the group should contribute with at least one more academic sources (book chapter and/or research article) used in writing the wiki article. So, if a group of four students, eight additional academic sources should be used (i.e. different than the course literature in all modules). When you use other than academic sources in your assignment, you must assess those sources critically. Especially if you make references to web pages, you should consider who is responsible for the content, if there is any author presented, if the content is reviewed in any way etc. When you write the text you must use in-text references as well as a reference list in the end of the text following the principles of academic writing. Environmental studies and tourism Give a brief description of environmental science. Describe the main contribution of environmental science to tourism research. Give examples of phenomena that may well be studied within environmental science. How has the raising of environmental concerns and environmental science affected the way humans view, buy and experience tourism? Common pool resources: What are the ‘common pool resources’? Name two common pool resources often used by tourism and explain how the criteria characterising these types of resources apply to these examples. Impacts on mountainous areas: What are the impacts of tourism on mountainous areas and how can these impacts deteriorate tourism development? Impacts on air: What are the impacts of tourism on air and how can these impacts deteriorate tourism development? Wildlife tourism: The use of wildlife in tourism has changed the last 30 years. Describe how this change took place and the main factor that contributed to this change.
